Do any of you have any young cowboys wondering how they can prepare for a potential career as a professional bull rider???
How would you like them to be part of an elite Jr. bull riding association which gives kids the opportunity to sharpen their bull riding skills and build character while gaining confidence in preparing them for the next level of competition?
The National Jr. Bull Riders Association, based in Vinita, Oklahoma was started in 1999 by Paul & Connie Mendell. They pictured an organization where kids could compete safely, learn life skills while promoting the family environment as well as increasing the overall interest in the sport of bull riding and through many long hours and dedication, they made it happen.  The NJBRA has since grown to include 11 states nationwide.  This organization and the individual State chapters which are a part of it, allow youth ages 4-19 to compete in state level events which range from Mutton Bustin to Sr. Division bull riding in order to qualify to go on to their State Finals, Regional Finals and then on to a National Finals.  This is the ONLY youth bull riding organization with a National structure which hosts a National Finals.
The National Jr. Bull Riding Association Finals were held in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  There were over 230 contestants who competed in the 2009 National Finals for over $40,000 in buckles, cash and prizes! The young bull riders who are a part of this organization not only learn the mechanics of bull riding in hopes that they too can someday compete at a professional level, but experience an atmosphere that promotes positive attitudes, sportsmanship, citizenship & leadership. These are truly the skills that will help our youth succeed in their lives.
The Oregon Jr. Bull Riders Association, a chapter of the National Jr. Bull Riders Association was founded in 2001 by Rusty & Lisa Gorham and is based in Lebanon, Oregon. It started with merely 3 members and now boasts a membership base of close to 50 young bull riders. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to be a part living in Oregon or any of the neighboring states.
Most individuals involved with this organization are volunteering time, skills or funds in order to help the organization continue to grow and succeed.  Sponsors are always welcome and much needed to support our organization and National Finals. What better investment is there than in our youth who are the future of rodeo and our nation?!
